Protective barriers between employees can be challenging when doing business requires interaction between people at distances closer than six feet. It’s important to see clearly and it is important to exchange items in most of these interactions. The work stations where these close proximity interactions occur are not identical spaces.
Some physical barriers are like a food buffet sneeze guard – rigid plexiglass fixtures that have a pre-determined and fixed size opening for passing items. Some barriers are solid plexiglass construction and others are metal framed plexiglass. The items you need to pass through the opening may not fit the window in the plexiglass. When items are larger than the opening, employees or customers must pass the item around the opening, potentially defeating the purpose of the barrier.
